Community Partnerships

BMI Community Partnerships is an initiative that seeks to recognize and amplify the tremendous work accomplished by writers, arts groups, and organizations in our communities. Through an annual application process, the institute welcomes proposals for events, programs, and projects that

  • reflect one or more priorities within BMI’s mission,
  • serve local audiences in Las Vegas or Southern Nevada, and
  • are entirely free and open to the public.

Annual Application: opens mid-July, closes early September
Period of Activity: October through mid-June
Applicants Notified: no later than the second week of October
Maximum Award:  $2,000

Please note, Community Partnerships are not intended to act as individual artist grants or to support individual art projects. For example, BMI might support a local film festival, but not an individual film project—or, a writing workshop, but not an individual book project. Successful applications also include budgets that prioritize the program components—like materials, venue, etc.—over or alongside payment to the organizer, applicant, or teaching artist.

Examples of Past Supported Projects:

  • Obodo Collective’s Our Mother’s Garden Book Festival
  • Take What You Need (TWYN) art supply event at The Library District
  • A Public Fit’s playwriting lab
  • From Page to Stage, an acting workshop series for writers with interdisciplinary interests.
