About Areej

Areej Quraishi was born in Dubai, UAE. Her fiction explores familial relationships, cultural identity, memory, and their effects on the psyche. She holds an MFA from the University of Washington-Seattle and an MA and BA in English from Rutgers University. She is at work on two novels and a short story collection based on magic and myth. Her stories appear in Entropy, Parentheses Journal, Identity Theory, Yemassee Journal, and have been awarded accolades or finalist spots from Glimmer Train Press, CRAFT Literary, Salamander Magazine and New Millennium Writings. She is the Editor of Witness Magazine.
